The woodlands surrounding the Prettyboy Reservoir are for the primary purpose of filtering ground water before it enters the reservoir. This is the cheapest and most efficient way to guarantee high quality drinking water to consumers in the Baltimore region. Limited recreation that does not disturbed natural processes is permitted.
The reservoir woodlands are open to low impact recreation that does not disturbed the water filtration process from Sunrise to Sunset, 365 days per year. Visitors may hike, jog, walk etc. Pets are permitted on a leash and all pet waste must be removed. Access is available at Woods Road Entrances marked with Baltimore City DPW Signs. The riding of bicycles is limited to paved roadways open to Motor Vehicle Traffic.
Other types of recreational activity or use by organized groups is either prohibited or requires a Right of Entry Permit from the City of Baltimore, Department of Public Works.
